Audi 100 / A6 (C4 Platform) - 2.8 coolant temp sensor location? - Hey all, My brother has a '97 A6 2.8Q (avant if that matters) and the coolant temperature is whacked. Sometimes it shows operating temp and sometimes it . #7. The low coolant warning works on the measured voltage potential accross the probes. The coolant conducts enough current to keep the system quite (no warning). But, the probes get sludged and if the voltage input into the processor becomes too low, the alarm trips. You need to clean the metal probes. 2008A6 4.2 - Coolant temperature sensor locatio. My 2008 4.2 A6 started doing a new thing today. I knew I was too fortunate to have nothing weird happening for the last 4 weeks. Starting this morning, the fan will run for along time after I park it. It happened twice and now I am letting it run for awhile to see if it will stop.
ahquitter not fixing it yourself! lol. $500 almost seems reasonable for this car lol. ugh. I wonder how they came up with that price. I mean I think they want min $50 a gallon for the coolant and I bet they insist on replacing

Boughta sensor from GSF for £18.98 and changed it tonight, what a bitch of a job!!! Audi part number is - 059919501A, the sensor is dual and it’s green. GSF’s part number is – 93494D Audi part number – N90316802 GSF’s part number is – 17953A This sensor is exactly where the posts / drawings say it is so thanks for the info.
Theclimate control system usually has its own separate outside air temperature sensor located outside the engine compartment so it is not affected by engine heat. The outside air temperature sensor is normally mounted behind the grille or at the base of the windshield. Majority of these sensors work just the same as the engine air
