Lookingfor some help here. Vehicle: 2012 Range Rover Supercharged - 5.0L V8 - 115,535 Miles. Location: SW Michigan. Chain of events: (Apr-03-2012): Timing chain and tensioner repair done. Found out that this is a common problem with these 5.0L engines and there is a class action lawsuit with LR on them. Milage 77,890.

254 I was getting that same fault, even RIGHT AFTER replacing the rear diff. The cause is the locking motor/actuator that sits on top of the pumpkin. Replace that, program as necessary, and you are good to go. If you haven't changed the fluid in the rear diff in a while, that'd probably be a good idea, too.

If you go through the drivers side wheel arch and follow the steering link from the steering rack back towards the steering wheel, you will see a join. If you spray some wd40 in there, it will temporarily ease the problem, but you need to get it replaced.
